Overview. Founded in 1990, Programmed Logic Corporation develops and markets middleware for the UNIX operating system and related open-systems technologies. The privately held company is headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey and is a leading supplier of data storage and data management software products.

Product Line Architecture

Products:

DTFS, is a compression file system, which employs transparent data compression to double the storage of a UNIX system, as well as transaction processing techniques to insure that your disk is never left in an inconsistent state, even with power interruption. DTFS provides real-time, on-the-fly compression and individual files can be compressed with up to 255 different, configurable algorithms.
HTFS, the High Throughput File System, is a journaling file system that employs transaction-oriented high performance file caching, intent logging, and data checkpointing to more than double the total throughput of UNIX systems, while at the same time dramatically increasing its reliability and availabilty.
StackFS is a Stackable, Modular File System, which is transparent to the native file system. It allows new features to be added to existing file systems without modification. PLC has developed a number of product modules that stack into this architecture:

Modules available:

TeraFile enables file sizes beyond 2 gigabytes by providing access to 64-bit files for existing 32-bit UNIX operating systems. Files can be distributed across the network and are not limited to the size constraints of existing file systems. The product works using any file system and without modification to the underlying operating system.

SnapShot provides an easy way to backup any file system online, without support from the underlying file system. SnapShot can be enabled on a per-file, per-directory, or per-file system basis. As a result of SnapShot's ability to store copies of modified files on a server over NFS, the product works well on systems which have little disk space. This allows an enterprise's systems to be available and accessible without downtime for backups, making SnapShot the perfect backup engine for the Intranet.

Customization Services. PLC provides customization, performance tuning, and porting services to assist its customers with the integration of licensed technology into their hardware platforms or operating environments.
